In March 2020, after much discussion, the Ale organizers decided to cancel our in-person gathering for Memorial Day weekend 2020. We knew it was the right decision. These are challenging times and we want to make sure everyone in our Morris community remains safe and healthy.
HOWEVER… some of us really wanted to Do Something. We have so much love, humor, camaraderie, and good cheer in our dance community. Many of us only get to see each other once a year.
An idea started to form. What if we could capture some of that community spirit — but host it on the internet? A “Virtual Ale”.
We want this to be fun…. so we are calling it the Bounce House.
So far, we have a few ideas to share dancing, song, and merriment on the internet:
- Teams can dance out or perform in their local areas, and upload videos to share
- Teams or individual dancers can make other silly videos or messages to share
- Skit night online! Submit a video
- Designing and printing a special t-shirt for this year (where would we be without that annual addition to our t-shirt wardrobe?)
Want to share something?
If you have a video or other contribution from you or your team that you’d like to share, please indicate your interest on this form:
Are you interested in joining the “Host Team” of the 2020 Bounce House Virtual Ale?
We are looking for people who are feeling isolated by the pandemic who are ready to pour some energy and time into helping us create this community-driven project. We can make this happen!
Organizing an Ale is a lot of work, even if it’s all “virtual”. We need lots of help. We are primarily using Slack as a tool for collaboration between dancers who are in different states and time zones.
