2026 Ale Information

The 46th Annual Midwest Morris Ale

May 22 – 25, 2026  *  Memorial Day Weekend

Bellvue, Colorado

Welcome

The Colorado Morris community is excited to be hosting the 46th Annual Midwest Morris Ale in the Rocky Mountain state of Colorado.

In 2026, the Ale will be held at Buckhorn Camp high in the hills above Fort Collins, Colorado. Buckhorn Camp and Retreat Center is a beautiful, rustic Methodist camp northwest of Fort Collins in Bellvue at 381 Old Camp Road. The Buckhorn Mountain Guest Ranch was built in 1946 and, using logs cut off of the property, the original lodge and twelve cabins were constructed. There have been additions and removals (by fire) since then, with the current configuration able to house 250 guests. This camp also has lots of room for tenting or RVs (no-hook-ups), and is approximately 35 minutes from Old Town Fort Collins.

The camp boasts amazing Rocky Mountain views and has lots of outlying cabins with electricity and bathrooms!

Information for first time ale attendees

Schedule and Tours

We are planning a mass dance on Saturday morning followed by tours to places like New Belgium Brewery in the afternoon. Sunday afternoon we will dance at City Park in Fort Collins.

Initial schedule and tour information has been posted to the schedule page.

Monday Pub Sing and Jam!

On Monday, after the Ale, we’ll be singing at Carw Gwyn, a mead hall that recently opened up in Denver. Pub sing will be from 7pm-10pm. Carw Gwyn will be open beginning at 6pm for anyone who wants to eat earlier (they are typically only open Wed-Sun, but they are going to open up special for us, so please eat and drink and be merry!). Parking is street parking, and close parking will be very limited. Colfax is being torn up for a public transit project. Carpooling highly encouraged. Public transit via RTD is also a good option (the #15 bus runs up and down Colfax).

There is also likely to be tune sessions happening as well. There is a regular Monday night Irish session at Darcy’s Pub in Cherry Creek (about 20 minutes from Carw Gwyn), and it sounds like they’ll still be having the regular 6pm session on Memorial Day. Rodney is also willing to coordinate a jam at the Sauer house in Louisville on Monday from 2pm – 5pm as well if there’s interest.

If you think you might be interested in any of the above, drop Sophie a quick email at sundayseasongs@gmail.com so we have a rough headcount for Rodney and Carw Gwyn as we get closer.  Also, let Sophie know if you need accommodations for the night, as folks from the Maroon Bells team have offered to help with housing.

Mass Dances

In addition to the standards – the Abram Morris Dance and Bonny Green Garters – there will be six other mass dances this year.

Lollipop Man Adderbury
English Country Gardens Bampton
Piper’s Hut Fieldtown
Off to California Litchfield
Hunter’s Moon Border
Tide’s a Flowin’ Border

The Mass Dance page has been updated with videos, detailed written instructions, and music.

We will hold a Mass Dance instruction session and review on Friday night.

Shirts

This year shirts are available by pre-order only for $18 per shirt ($14 for Youth sizes). You may choose from 3 styles: Unisex, Women’s, and Youth. Learn more at our shirts page.

Financial Aid

The Midwest Morris Ale provides financial aid to community members for whom the cost of attending an Ale is a hardship. This is made possible through the generous donations of other members of the community. There is no age restriction or skill requirement. More information will be available for the 2026 Ale on our Financial Aid page.
