About MWMA

The tradition of Morris dancing originated in the Cotswold region of England. Today, Morris dancing is performed worldwide, and here in the North America there are several dozen teams of dancers. The teams located in the Midwest and Mountain States gather together every Memorial Day weekend to dance together and renew friendships. This annual gathering is the Midwest Morris Ale!

The annual Midwest Morris Ale is hosted by a different team each year, and the location rotates around to different geographic locations (see our Past Ales page). The Midwest Morris Ale Association, Inc., provides organizational support and continuity for different teams in the community so that smaller teams can more easily take a turn to host the Ale.
