Want to help make the Ale happen?
To any Morris dancer touring in a new environment, the Trusty Native Guide is the person who makes everything run smoothly. They take care of all the details, like navigating city streets, letting you know when the next bathroom stop is, and doling out bus snacks.
This year’s Ale will rely heavily on technology. We are seeking volunteers who are “native” to online interactions to be Trusty Virtual Guides. These folks are comfortable setting up and hosting Zoom meetings, and guiding others through technical issues.
If you are interested in helping out as a Trusty Virtual Guide, please select that option in your registration. A member of the organizing team will contact you to coordinate. We will meet for a short training session prior to the Ale weekend.
Before you register…
Because this is a Virtual Ale, there are a lot of moving parts! When you register, we’ll ask you all about which activities you’re interested in participating in over the weekend.
Please view the events and schedule pages to get an idea of the different activities before you begin your registration.
A few important things:
If you are planning to submit a Show Dance Video from your team, please let us know when you register. A member of the organizing team will contact you with instructions on how to upload your video.
If you are planning to submit a Skit Night Video, or thinking about it, please let us know when you register. A member of the organizing team will contact you with instructions on how to upload your video.
Would you be willing to teach a workshop or host a session? For each of these virtual events, we’re looking for a workshop leader or session leader to . Introduce the group, call a dance, lead a song, play a game. You do not need any tech skills — a Trusty Virtual Guide will run the Zoom room.
When you register, please tell us about what you’d like to lead!
Code of Conduct
All participants in the 2020 Virtual Midwest Morris Ale are expected to read and abide by the Code of Conduct. The Midwest Morris Ale is committed to providing a safe experience for all.
When you register, you will be asked to acknowledge that you have read the Code of Conduct and agree to follow it.
There is no fee to register
The total cost of hosting the 2020 Virtual Ale is less than 1% of the cost of hosting an in-person Ale. This is a cost we are able to cover as an organization, and we are pleased to host this virtual event at no charge to attendees. We want everyone to participate and have a good time.
If you are moved to make a totally optional donation to the Midwest Morris Ale Association – suggested amount $5 to $10 – please click here (and thank you!).
